Overview
Soft Boy, Abigail Booth

Soft Boy will present a new body of work by artist Abigail Booth. The exhibition expresses feelings of grief, loss and the re-shaping of identity. Booth, rooted among the rural landscapes of Somerset, considers the land as a place of both rupture and repair, where tenderness and violence, care and labour, softness and masculinity exist in close proximity. Across sculpture, textile and photography, fragments of the body meet raw fleece, horse hair, hemlock charcoal, lead and objects gathered from the agricultural landscape. Moving between vulnerability and restraint, Soft Boy embodies the ways grief takes form in bodies, materials and place, and asks how, after profound loss, our relationships to each might slowly be remade.
